The Department of Computer Science organised a webinar series on Placement oriented Soft Skills Development from 17th to 23rd August, 2020 to assist the students in developing their skills for placement. The webinar series consisted of five sessions.
On 17th August 2020, a session on Professional Grooming by was taken by Mr. Nithin Johny, Assistant Professor, Albertian Institute of Management, Cochin. He spoke about the factors that must be kept in mind to make one presentable to others. The talk was coordinated by Mr. Amal M R, Assistant Professor of the Department of Computer Science, assisted by the student coordinator Ms. Riya Joseph.
The second session of the series was on 18th August, 2020. It dealt with the topic Preparing a Professional Resume. The session was handled by Mr Premjo Jose, HR manager of Cubet Techno Lab, Info Park. Mr. Premjo Jose spoke about how to prepare a professional resume as a fresher. Ms.Sangeetha J, the Head of the Department of Computer Science coordinated the talk, assisted by Ms. Anjal Shalet, the student coordinator for the session.
The third session of the series dealt with Do’s and Don’ts in an Interview by Ms. Indu George, Assistant Professor, Albertian Institute of Management, Cochin on the 19th of August, 2020. She spoke about the do’s and don’ts to be kept in mind during an interview and Group Discussion. Ms. Rachana Arora, Assistant Professor of the Department of Computer Science was the faculty coordinator, assisted by the student coordinator Ms. Mary Betsy Rocha.
The fourth session was on 20th August, 2020 and dealt with Corporate Aptitude. The session was handled by Ms. Rachana Arora, Assistant Professor, Department of Computer Science, St.Albert’s College (Autonomous). She spoke about different aptitude tests and its importance in a job interview. Ms. Dhanya G S, Assistant Professor of the Department of Computer Science was the faculty coordinator. She was assisted by the student coordinator Ms. Aswitha Menon.
The final installment of the series was on 22nd August, 2020. The session was on Connect with Alumni-IT Professionals. The speakers for the session were Ms. Arathy V Menon, Developer Java J2EE, WIPRO Ltd, Ms. Bincy Varghese, Administrator-Windows Infrastructure L1, WIPRO Ltd, Ms. Ashmi Maria, Wintel Administrator, WIPRO Ltd, Mr. John Gilbert, Assistant System Engineer, TCS and Mr. Athul Peter, Assistant System Engineer, TCS. All the resource persons spoke about their journeys of applying for a job to training in a company. The event was coordinated by Ms. Dhanya G S, Assistant Professor of the Department of Computer Science assisted by the student coordinator Ms. Anagha Biju.
